Katie Tarbox : ウィキペディア英語版 | Katie.com: My Story ''Katie.com: My Story'' (or ''A Girl's Life Online'') is a memoir by American author Katie Tarbox. The book was published by Dutton in April 2000.〔 ==Synopsis== The book chronicles a life changing event in the author's life while growing up in New Canann, Connecticut. At the age of 13, Tarbox met an older man in an Internet chat room which led to a secret Internet relationship and, several months later, a meeting in a Texas motel where she was molested by a convicted pedophile.〔 The incident was interrupted by her mother and hotel security who were informed of the secret meeting by Tarbox's friend. After reporting the attack to her family and local police, Tarbox felt emotionally abandoned and lost the support of many of her friends. In 1998 she was successful in prosecuting her attacker, Francis Kufrovich, who was sentenced to 18 months in jail. The author describes her years of guilt for her role in Kufrovich's conviction and being labeled by her family, friends and community as promiscuous.〔
